Did you know that July 23rd is National Hot Dog Day? For me, every trip to Costco is hot dog day. And did you know that there’s an actual Council that has everything you need to know or could want to know about it’s history?
According to some, our beloved processed wiener likely originated in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany over 500 years ago. But even that’s not without controversy. (Not kidding). Evidently, others claim that Johann Georghehner, a German butcher, created it in the late 1600’s.
All I know is that I love me a good frankfurter with mustard, relish and sometimes sauerkraut. And I’ve run across some creative and yummy variations. Check them out next time you’ve a hankering for hot dog deliciousness.
